EDGAR II: SEC Modernization Training Course Provides Overview and Details Of Filing Changes to Help Individuals Navigate the EDGAR Process
NEW YORK, Sept. 19 -- Bowne & Co., Inc., a global leader in delivering high-value document management solutions, has launched its fall sponsorship of two-day training courses for filing financial documents under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's recently changed requirements involving its electronic filing system known as EDGAR.
"EDGAR II: SEC Modernization Training Course," offered in four major cities over eight days, will educate attendees on complying with the new EDGAR II process and creating state-of-the-art document formats. The comprehensive seminars provide attendees with extensive, hands-on EDGAR training.
Bowne is the world's largest financial printer and leading EDGAR filer. The seminars are being held in conjunction with Glasser LegalWorks, a multimedia publishing and education company widely known for its comprehensive programs on legal and securities issues.
"With the flurry of changes in SEC filing requirements, U.S. and international companies, as well as individual filers, are now hungry for specific advice on how to deal with the new rules," said David Copenhafer, the EDGAR pioneer and 15-year SEC veteran who is now Bowne's Director of EDGAR Services. "For years, Bowne has provided one-on-one securities advice to its customers, and has organized or sponsored a host of securities seminars involving leading attorneys, SEC officials and expert instructors. As the leader in this field, Bowne will continue to monitor regulatory changes, and share our expertise and insight to help ensure compliance with filing guidelines."
Specifically, the course will provide an overview of EDGAR II and demonstrate how to navigate the EDGAR filing Web site. It will give tips and best practices, and cover such topics as working in HTML, converting from PDF formats and using the Internet to transmit files to the SEC.
The current schedule for the two-day EDGAR II seminar series is as follows:
* Washington, D.C., September 19 and 20;
* San Francisco, September 30-October 1;
* Toronto, Canada, October 3 and 4;
* New York City, October 17 and 18.

Bowne recently announced that its BowneFile16 service is helping corporate insiders, directors and 10% beneficial owners to ease the pain of complying with the stringent, two-day Securities and Exchange Commission filing requirements mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 that was effective August 29.
The new law -- requiring all changes in beneficial corporate ownership to be reported to the SEC within two days instead of up to 40 days following the transaction -- affects approximately 60,000 filers and involves more than 300,000 filings reported. The BowneFile16 service, available through the company's well-established, secure document collaboration tool, BowneLink, assists filers with completion of required SEC Forms 3, 4, or 5, as well as rapid conversion and filing under the SEC's modernized EDGAR electronic filing system. Bowne project coordinators are available globally to assist filers -- regardless of their location -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
