Leaders Announce First Recipient of John A. Lopiano Scholarship

Lopiano Scholarship for high-volume computer output (HVCO) students. Bethany Kaplan, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, received the award for her stellar achievements as a student of printing and document technology. John A. Lopiano is a well-known and respected industry pioneer. Mr. Lopiano, a former President of Xerox, was the Chairman of EDSF last year and currently serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of OutputLinks.com. Bethany Kaplan received the scholarship for her achievements in pursuing a career in the industry. Kaplan is currently enrolled in an accelerated program at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where upon completion she will earn both a bachelor's degree in printing management and graphic communications and an MBA. She is an active member in several student organizations, including the International Club of Printing House Craftsmen. As Treasurer, she co-wrote and produced a magazine about the club's trip to PRINT '01 last September. The magazine won second place in the Society for Technical Writing report competition, a first for the RIT School of Printing. Upon graduation, Kaplan plans to pursue a career in upper management at a leading graphic communications company. EDSF's John A. Lopiano Scholarship is awarded to a junior, senior or advanced college student who is pursuing a degree in the field of document communications. Priority consideration is given to students who work in or whose family member has worked or currently works in a segment of the high volume computer output (HVCO) industry.
