August 20, 2002 - Benny Landa, founder of Indigo, is backing a venture called HumanEyes Technologies. HumanEyes is a developer of software for the creation of 3D pictures using standard digital printing equipment. The company said yesterday that it has raised $5 million in its first institutional financing round. Mr. Landa and his shareholders sold Indigo last year to HP in a deal worth nearly $900 million. The funding for HumanEyes is earmarked for product development and initial marketing of their software solution for creating 3D pictures in the outdoor advertising and packaging markets. Mr. Landa joined BRM Capital and Docor International (Van Leer Group) for this round of financing. HumanEyes says that 3D advertisements attract more attention by creating a greater impact for each placement. The applications for this technology include outdoor advertising in airports, bus stations and malls, Point of Sale placements, vending machines and packaging of consumer goods. The company has already signed contracts with a number of leading advertising agencies and printers. The major international media group, Publicis, has already started to work with HumanEyes and intends to use its technology for some 300 signs that will be placed in the French Metro. Coca Cola performed a pilot study in Chile placing HumanEyes 3D signs on the front of some of their vending machines. The company says that reports indicate sales at those machines increased substantially. Mr. Landa commented in a statement released yesterday. "The ability of HumanEyes to capture and process 3D images using standard digital cameras and then process and print 3D images on ordinary home printers has the potential to bring the excitement of 3D imaging to the consumer market.” Mr. Landa also serves on the Board of HumanEyes with Mr. Yoav Chelouche, former CEO of Scitex. Mr. Chelouche serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
