Detroit Newspapers Appoints Michael Mayo to Lead $170 Million Expansion

Press release from the issuing company

DETROIT, Aug. 5 -- Frank J. Vega, President and CEO for Detroit Newspapers, today announced the appointment of Michael K. Mayo as Project Director to oversee the multi-million dollar expansion of the company's production facilities in Sterling Heights, MI. The project, announced in June, represents an investment of more than $170 million and is expected to take more than three years to complete. In making the announcement, Vega said, "Mike Mayo is uniquely qualified for this assignment. He has more than 20 years experience in the newspaper industry, including a similar press expansion with MAN Roland, the same press manufacturer selected for our project. While he will report to Keith Pierce, Senior Vice President/Operations, he will work closely with me and with other key executives on this project. Mike's mission will be to keep the entire project on track and ensure a smooth transition internally and externally for our customers. His talents and expertise suit him well for this endeavor."
