Irvine, CA. February 28, 2002 Roland DGA Corporation today introduced its initial lineup of SOLJET Certified Media (SCM). SCM include Avery Dennison’s patent-pending Easy to Apply premium cast vinyl, a premium calendered vinyl with a choice of a removable or permanent adhesive, and an economy calendered vinyl with a permanent adhesive. The specially treated, adhesive-backed vinyls were developed by Avery Dennison for the Roland SOLJET printer/cutter. “We are thrilled to have worked with Avery Dennison on this project and have future plans to add banner substrates to the SOLJET media lineup,” said Brian McLeod, Roland Director of Business Development. “With our unique, patent-pending chemistry, SOLJET Certified Media will provide excellent UV stability and water resistance combined with a great look and feel,” said Amy Kovach, Business Manager-Digital Graphics for Avery Dennison Graphics Division North America. “This product group represents a groundbreaking new development for Avery Dennison and the entire inkjet industry. Together, they yield brilliant, water- and UV-resistant graphics that last up to three years outdoors. In addition to the vinyls developed by Avery Dennison, the SCM lineup also includes glossy scrim banner. “Now signmakers have a complete, factory-bundled solvent solution for creating a variety of indoor and outdoor graphics,” said Laura Wilson, Roland Product Manager. “These specially-treated vinyls, with the SOLJET, SOL INKs and ColorChoice RIP software, make it easy to produce a variety of print and cut applications, from decals and floor graphics to outdoor signs and giant banners.” Economy Calendered Vinyl with Permanent Adhesive (SCM-ECVP) is an inexpensive calendered product with an aggressive adhesive designed for applications that will be disposed of after use. With up to two years of outdoor durability, SCM-ECVP has a list price of $179.95 for a 54” x 75’ roll. Luster Calendered Vinyl with Removable Adhesive (SCM-LCVR) is a hi-quality 3 mil vinyl that offers low-ultimate adhesion to a variety of surfaces. With up to three years of outdoor durability, SCM-LCVR has a list price of $269.95 for a 54” x 75’ roll.
