Kiener Named Banta Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

MENASHA, Wis., Feb. 14 -- Banta announced the appointment of Daniel W. Kiener as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective March 11, 2002. Kiener, 50, was most recently Treasurer of PPG Industries, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa.He succeeds current Chief Financial Officer Gerald A. Henseler, who will remain Executive Vice President of the corporation until his retirement later this year. During his 25-year career at PPG Industries, Kiener advanced through a variety of financial positions of increasing responsibility, both at the corporate and operational levels. He was promoted to Controller of the Chemicals Group in 1987, and later advanced to General Manager, Polymer Products Group in 1990; Controller and Manager of Business Planning, Glass Group in 1992; and Corporate Controller in 1995. He became Treasurer in 1996. "Dan is a seasoned and highly effective business and financial executive with deep and relevant financial experience, international exposure and an outstanding track record as a financial and operational leader,'' says Banta Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Donald D. Belcher. "I am particularly pleased that Dan and Gerry will have an opportunity to work closely together over the next few months to insure a smooth transition prior to Gerry's retirement, which will conclude a distinguished 36-year career with Banta.'' Kiener earned an MBA in corporate finance at Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in management at Georgetown University.
