IMACON Announces Lower Prices for Flextight Photo Scanners

Press release from the issuing company

SEATTLE, WA, October 24, 2001 – Imacon, Inc., a subsidiary of Imacon AS, today announced a breakthrough lower price point for its Flextight Photo, the first dedicated reproduction-quality scanner for professional photographers. Effective immediately in North America, the new price for the Flextight Photo scanner drops to $6,495. In addition, Imacon, Inc. also is offering a special $1,500 rebate on all purchases of the Flextight Photo made between now and November 30th in North America, bringing the net cost down to $4,995 during that incentive period. Imacon, Inc. dealers are fully stocked with the product and are shipping the Flextight Photo now at the new price. Jack Showalter, President of Imacon, Inc., noted, "Positioning the Flextight Photo at this new lower price threshold makes it the most affordable, feature-rich, photo quality-reproduction scanner ever available to photographers, graphic artists and other imaging professionals in the North American market. Flextight Photo, with its radical approach that combines the image quality of a drum scanner with the simplicity of a flatbed, leads all scanners in its class in features, performance, and now more than ever, in price." The Flextight Photo is a specific format scanner, namely for roll films only, scanning 35mm and 120 mm (single or strips) at a maximum optical resolution of 3200 dpi. It incorporates Imacon's Flextight Technology (FTT), which uses a patented magnetic frame to firmly hold originals, automatically feed them into the scanner and then flex them around an internal rotating drum. Inside, without prisms or mirrors, the image is scanned directly to the lens above. The "Direct-to-Lens" imaging virtually eliminates the visual noise and distortion of flatbeds, while ensuring that the "line of sight" is completely straight and focused. Unlike drum scanners, Flextight Photo avoids the need for foreign matter such as glass, gel and anti-Newton spray between the light source and the imaging lens. The result is improved detail, sharpness and higher image quality, plus increased productivity through savings in prep and clean-up time. More information about the new Flextight Photo pricing and rebate offer and dealer locations are available through the Imacon, Inc. website at www.imacon-usa.com or by calling Imacon, Inc. at 800-367-6434. Imacon Inc. will be demonstrating its line of scanners for imaging professionals at PhotoPlus East, booth # 1137.
