Press release from the issuing company
NEW YORK – September 25, 2001 – Today at Seybold SF, Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the graphics, fashion, interior and industrial design industries, announced the new PANTONE solid in RGB guide along with PANTONE ColorWeb Pro 2.0 software, for improved color accuracy and control over the Internet.
“We are excited to offer the new PANTONE solid in RGB guide along with a more robust version of ColorWeb Pro software,” said Joanna Sluja, product marketing manager, Pantone. “Both products make it quick and easy to re-purpose PANTONE Colors from print into Web pages. This meets the current needs of traditional print designers who are now migrating to multimedia design work and must keep color consistent between print and the Web.”
The PANTONE solid in RGB guide provides print designers the data required to simulate PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors in RGB, in a convenient fan guide format. Designers can now consistently apply corporate identity and product branding colors from print to the Web. The new guide contains RGB and HTML values for the entire 1,114 PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Color palette, including Pantone’s 147 new colors. All colors have been optimized for the Web and conform to sRGB specifications. RGB values are identified in both 0-100 and 0-255 scales. Icons have been added to show the user when a color is in gamut for RGB, CYMK and Hexachrome, Pantone’s revolutionary six-color printing process.
ColorWeb Pro 2.0 is an affordable digital solution that provides Web authors and graphic designers with the RGB and HTML values for the 1,114 PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM Colors, including Pantone’s 147 new colors, optimized for the Web. With improved system level integration, Windows users can now access the ColorWeb Pro color picker directly within applications. It works with all major Web authoring applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Fireworks, Flash, Allaire Homesite and Dreamweaver. For the Macintosh user, ColorWeb Pro 2.0 has been specially designed to work with Apple’s new operating system, Mac OS X.
