Winners of the Printing Innovation With Xerox Imaging Awards Announced

CHICAGO--Sept. 7, 2001--Xerox Corporation today announced the seven winners of the Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Awards, a program that recognizes innovation and excellence in digital color printing applications.
Acknowledging new business processes for printers and their customers, the Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Awards showcases excellence from simple short-run color applications to the most complex one-to-one marketing fulfillment programs.
Xerox received more than 60 entries overall in this first year of the competition. Awards were presented in three categories and a best of show was also presented.
In the Best of Show and Color Reproduction Excellence categories:
* Karl A. Rudisill of Digital Colour Edge Inc. (New York) received the award for the "Ron Contarsy Fashion Photography Portfolio'' submission. As the Best of Show award winner, Rudisill and his client will receive a trip to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. This submission demonstrated 21st century technology and custom craftsmanship using the Xerox DocuColor 2060 Digital Press.
In the One to One Marketing Communications category:
* Relationship Marketing, Inc. (Des Moines, Iowa) received the Gold for its "Seasons Greetings'' submission.
* Progressive Impressions International (Bloomington, Ill.) received the Silver for its "Survival Direct Marketing Campaign.''
* Relationship Marketing, Inc. (Des Moines, Iowa) received the Bronze for its "Custom Seed'' catalog.
In the Short Run Digital Color category:
* Dominion (Richmond, Va.) received the Gold for its "Volunteers Enriching Life for Others Recognition'' program.
* Nebel Printing, Inc. (Rockville, Md.) received the Silver for its "Bouquet for the Cure'' poster.
* Alltel Publishing Corp. (Hudson, Ohio) received the Bronze for its "CD-ROM'' cover.
"Xerox developed this program to spotlight the `Heroes of The New Business of Printing' - creative directors, marketing personnel, database managers, photographers, and printers - who create and deliver value-added services and solutions to their customers,'' said Elaine Wilde, senior vice president and general manager, Xerox Worldwide Graphic Arts Business. "These winners are leading the future of printing by transitioning from traditional printing and using powerful digital technologies to create just-in-time, one-to-one and `e' printing applications and solutions.''
The winners were honored at a graphic arts customer reception yesterday at the Chicago Athletic Club.
Entries were judged on overall aesthetics, business effectiveness, use of digital technology and degree of innovation. A panel of industry leaders representing key segments of the graphic arts industry judged the Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging Award entries.
The six-judge panel included Michael Kieran, vice president, Services, of E-Color, Inc; Linda Manes Goodwin, executive director of Manes Goodwin Associates; Frank Romano, Cary Distinguished Professor of Electronic Publishing, Rochester Institute of Technology; George Ryan, president, Graphic Arts Technical Foundation; Jan White, Jan White Design Consulting; and Roy Zucca, The Digital Ad Advocate.
