Pitman to Showcase EFI Computer-To-Plate Technology at PRINT 01
Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO-Sept. 5, 2001--Electronics for Imaging, the world leader in providing hardware and software imaging solutions for networked printers and copiers, is demonstrating its computer-to-plate (CTP) technology in the Pitman Company booth No. 5110 at PRINT 01. Pitman, North America's leading distributor of graphic arts supplies, and EFI will highlight the efficiency and productivity that this innovative technology will bring to commercial printers, quick printers and graphic designers.
With nearly one million Fiery installations on the market, thousands of graphic arts professionals already rely on EFI's powerful technology and workflow capabilities for short run color, proofing, variable data and other digital printing needs. EFI's solution leverages its strong penetration in the graphic arts market to offer commercial printers a complete digital workflow for CTP technology. EFI technology now offers a single workflow capable of managing multiple output devices, including platesetter, wide format printer, production color copier, mid-range color copier, and more.
"Graphic arts professionals are migrating towards a fully digital workflow for offset printing, and EFI is committed to meeting their needs by providing the same ease of use and quality they've grown accustomed to with our industry-leading Fiery technology,'' said Fred Rosenzweig, president and COO, EFI. "As an industry leader, Pitman recognizes the value in offering both offset and short run digital printing solutions to its customers, and EFI's CTP technology helps bridge the gap between these two printing methods.''
EFI's new CTP technology combines the power of EFI's digital color front-end with advanced pre-press workflow capabilities to ensure a complete "proof then plate'' solution. The EFI solution centers around its familiar Command WorkStation user-interface, which provides complete job and device management, to enhance productivity and efficiency. The technology includes a special version of DocBuilder(TM) Pro(TM) for imposition, the latest EFI ColorWise ICC-based color management system, new and advanced soft-proofing capabilities for raster files, a "RIP Once, Output Many'' (ROOM) architecture, as well as tools for pre-flighting, job ticketing, trapping and screening.
"Pitman embraces innovative technologies that will help our customers achieve better results while reducing costs,'' said Larry D'Amico, VP of Digital Imaging Sales, Pitman Company. "EFI's ability to integrate workflow between their traditional copier and proofer front-ends and computer-to-plate technology is truly unique.''
Pitman will demonstrate EFI's CTP technology with a Presstek Dimension 400 platesetter and will proof on an Epson 10000 wide format ink-jet printer. The demonstration can be seen in the Pitman booth No. 5110, North Hall, Level 3 at PRINT 01. The PRINT 01 show takes place in Chicago at McCormick Place, September 6-13, 2001.
