Press release from the issuing company
Alexandria, Virginia and Lexington, Kentucky, USA - August 29, 2001 - Printing Industries of America (PIA), the nation's largest association serving the graphic arts industry, has selected WhatTheyThink.com to provide daily news on the Graphic Arts Information Network, www.gain.net. WhatTheyThink.com is the largest web based community with 15,000 print professionals as members.
WhatTheyThink will provide printing and graphic arts industry news to PIA's Graphic Arts Information Network (GAIN) Web portal. "We are very excited about working with WhatTheyThink and being able to offer GAIN visitors this excellent news product. Our goal is for GAIN to be the best online industry resource and working with organizations such as WhatTheyThink brings us closer to that goal," said Theresa Kramer-Burgess, CAE, Director of Internet Communications for PIA.
WhatTheyThink uses internal technology to canvas over 600 industry Web sites each day. The company has relationships with most major suppliers and a team who examines each news story on a daily basis. Randy Davidson, President of WhatTheyThink, states, "With GAIN, PIA has led the way in providing information and resources to the industry via the Internet. We are very pleased to have been selected by this first class organization. GAIN visitors will be rewarded - not only with the great resources PIA is known for, but industry news as it happens."
The agreement provides visitors to GAIN the ability to view daily news covering every segment of the industry including prepress, imaging, e-publishing and financial stories. The arrangement also allows users to search archived news by key word, company name or date. The current archive contains more than 3,500 articles.
The Graphic Arts Information Network (GAIN) was developed with the business needs of the graphics arts professional in mind. The portal contains searchable access to educational services and materials, equipment and supplies, legislative issues, industry news, and industry-specific expert technical support. GAIN was launched in July 2000 in cooperation with the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation and PIA/GATF Affiliates.
GAIN can be used by anyone who has access to the Internet. PIA/GATF members have full access and non-members have limited access to site resources. All users have access to their comprehensive industry training calendar and can register on-line for PIA and GATF meetings; buy one of over 300 publications offered by PIA and GATF and quickly find suppliers for the equipment and consumables they need.
WhatTheyThink.com provides news, interviews and research to 15,000 subscribers at its Web site. The company also supplies syndicated content to industry web sites including news feeds, search engines, expert advice and research.
