Mark Andy Selects PTCs MCAD Solutions to Reduce Design Cycle Time
Press release from the issuing company
NEEDHAM, Mass., Aug. 20 - PTC, the product development company(TM), today celebrates Mark Andy's success in the industrial equipment industry. Mark Andy Inc., the world's number one producer of narrow web printing equipment, located in Chesterfield, MO, has been using Pro/ENGINEER as its primary design software tool since 1993 with great success. Pro/ENGINEER has allowed Mark Andy to offer a full spectrum of web flexographic printing press capabilities for both the folding carton and flexible packaging markets, as well as the tag and label industry.
Mark Andy capitalizes on PTC's flexible Pro/ENGINEER collaboration and customization ability. "In using Pro/ENGINEER, we hoped to reduce time to market and production costs,'' said Mike Venegoni, engineering systems supervisor at Mark Andy.
"Prior to using Pro/ENGINEER we used a 2D drafting package. It would be more difficult to complete a complex design like our 'Scout' Flexographic Printing Press without the accuracy provided by Pro/ENGINEER.''
The Mark Andy 'Scout' Flexographic Printing Press was designed for printing packaging products such as self-adhesive labels and stickers. The 'Scout' was the company's first real experience with the top down assembly design capability found in Pro/ENGINEER. With the aid of Pro/ENGINEER as its exclusive design tool, Mark Andy significantly exceeded 2000 revenue forecasts for its 'Scout' project. "We had a very aggressive schedule that allowed only three months to actually design and document the new product, while targeting manufacturing costs to 25% less than the existing step up product,'' said Dave Telken, mechanical designer at Mark Andy. "Pro/ENGINEER helped us design it right the first time.''
