Wallace Achieves Platinum Supplier Status From American Airlines

Press release from the issuing company

LISLE, Ill. July 9, 2001--Wallace recently received Platinum(sm) Supplier status from American Airlines, being recognized the second year in a row for this prestigious award. Platinum Supplier recognition is given for outstanding performance in business processes through monthly report card measurements under American's Supplier Excellence 2000 process. Last year, Wallace was the first distributor/service company ever to receive Platinum Supplier status--the highest supplier recognition American bestows. Other recipients are primarily from the maintenance and engineering sector. "Receiving this honor truly recognizes the collective successes of our sales, manufacturing and distribution teams. We streamline these functions for American to deliver the highest quality product and standard of service. Our efforts are once again rewarded with this prestigious award,'' said Harry Murphy, Wallace's account manager for American Airlines. Wallace Chairman and CEO David Jones and President and COO Mike Duffield were recently in Dallas to accept the award with Murphy and Wallace's on-site team at American Airlines. Gerard Arpey, American's Executive Vice President Operations and John MacLean, Vice President Corporate Purchasing, presented the honor to Wallace. "Wallace's commitment to American is clearly shown in achieving Platinum status for two consecutive years,'' MacLean said. "Wallace met various criteria as part of American's comprehensive Supplier Excellence 2000 process, including passing an intensive review. The review focused on various quality, operational, and business processes as well as improvement efforts. To continue as a Platinum Supplier also requires that suppliers achieve sustained monthly report card scores that exceed American's minimum requirements in every category.'' As an on-site American supplier for the last six years, Wallace supplies a large variety of printed items to American including ticket jackets, bar-code driven luggage tags, internal forms and several corporate communication pieces including the AMR annual report.
