TechBooks Recognized, Hits Number 10 on the Virginia Business Fantastic 50

Press release from the issuing company

Fairfax, VA, June 29, 2001 - Publishers are spending too much time and money producing the same content for print and the Web. The TechBooks Group, a leading provider of XML publishing solutions that allow businesses to distribute content electronically over the Internet and in print, was named to the Virginia Business Fantastic 50, which recognizes the best small companies in Virginia. The TechBooks Group was listed as number 10 on this year’s list with a 796 percent growth rate from 1996 to 1999. They reported $20.6 million of revenue during the four- year period and 1440 employees in 1999. "It is a privilege and an honor to be recognized as part of such an elite group of companies," said Tom Cunningham, TechBooks’ chief executive officer. "We appreciate the positive economic climate in Virginia as it continues to encourage our growth and innovation in cross-media publishing." For six years, Virginia Business Magazine and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce have organized the Fantastic 50 contest to recognize the fastest-growing companies in the state. Eligible companies have to be privately held and headquartered in Virginia and have revenues of at least $200,000 in 1996, the starting year used in the contest to establish the company’s four-year revenue growth rate. By 1999, the company had to have shown a positive net income.
