Search is Over, Kinko’s Names Gary Kusin as President and CEO

VENTURA, Calif. – June 27, 2001 – Kinko's, Inc., a leading provider of document solutions and business services, today announced the appointment of Gary Kusin as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 6. He also will become a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Kusin succeeds George Tamke, a principal of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Inc. ("CD&R"), who will become Chairperson of Kinko’s Board of Directors. CD&R-managed funds owns approximately 40 percent of Kinko’s. B. Charles Ames, also a CD&R principal, will serve as Vice Chairperson of the company. Mr. Kusin joins Kinko’s from HQ Global Workplaces, Inc., where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Under Mr. Kusin’s leadership, HQ was transformed from a regional executive office suite business to a technologically advanced leader in flexible workplace solutions with more than 460 locations in 17 countries and over $600 million in sales. Prior to joining HQ Global Workplaces, Mr. Kusin co-founded and built two successful consumer retail businesses, Laura Mercier Cosmetics, a high-end cosmetics supplier now owned by Neiman-Marcus, and Babbage's, Inc., a leading chain of consumer software specialty stores that merged with Software Etc. Inc. magazine recognized Mr. Kusin as an Entrepreneur of the Year for his accomplishments at Babbage's. Mr. Kusin's experience in the retail sector also includes service with Federated Department Stores, as well as Carter-Hawley-Hale Stores. He received a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He served in several roles as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Mark’s School of Texas, including being Chairman of the Education Committee and a Member of its Executive Committee. He has served as Chairman of the Dallas Young Presidents’ Organization. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Electronic Arts, Inc., the world’s largest entertainment software publisher.
