The PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify enables merchants to quickly create Digital Product Passports using generative AI, from within the Shopify admin panel
New integration reduces cost and accelerates workflows by summarizing product data into DPPs directly from within Shopify
Salt Lake City – Today, PicoNext announced the launch of its new Digital Product Passport app for Shopify, enabling merchants on the global e-commerce platform to rapidly create Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in order to comply with new European Union regulations.
Using the PicoNext Product Passports app, Shopify merchants can accelerate the creation of Digital Product Passports using generative AI that summarizes product data directly from Shopify. Consumers can then view Digital Product Passport data via QR code or Web links. Digital Product Passports are soon-to-be-required for many product categories sold or distributed in the E.U., including apparel, textiles, electronics, batteries, furniture, and more.
Creating DPPs with the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify
With the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify, merchants can use the product data from their Shopify store to create their Digital Product Passports, simplifying and accelerating their workflow. After selecting a target product, merchants can also identify additional information from their store that should be used to create the DPP, like an existing “About us” or “Sustainability” page.
Then, merchants select a DPP template containing sustainability attributes for the product passport – including sections for materials origin, carbon footprint, environmental impact, recycling, and more. Using integrated generative AI from the PicoNext AI Assistant, the app automatically analyzes product data from the Shopify listing, and summarizes it into a DPP, which merchants can then review, edit, and publish to customers. Store owners can also download a QR code from the app that links to the Digital Product Passport and provides DPP access to customers.
Fibre For Good uses Shopify integration to publish Digital Product Passports
Fibre for Good, a Sydney-based children’s and essentials apparel brand, uses the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify to reduce the time and cost for publishing its DPPs. The apparel retailer has long used Shopify as its e-commerce platform, and places sustainability at the forefront of its organic natural color cotton baby wear products. Creating Digital Product Passports for each item in its new Heritage line posed a challenge, however, due to the amount of data, and time necessary to gather and organize it.
Using the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify, Fibre for Good selected the products in its Shopify store, and then quickly summarized that information into DPP templates using generative AI. Fibre For Good was then able to review, edit, and approve the data before finalizing its DPP.
Quotes
“Using the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify helped us produce our Digital Product Passport more quickly, and at lower cost than we could otherwise have done,” said Carl Ludwig, Founder and CEO of Fibre For Good. “Instead of manually sifting through all of our sustainability data, we used AI to generate a first pass of our DPP directly from our Shopify store, which we then fine-tuned to achieve our final result.”
“With the PicoNext Product Passports app for Shopify, merchants can conveniently create Digital Product Passports from the product data they already have in their e-commerce platform,” said Dave Dickson, Founder of PicoNext. “With Digital Product Passports, companies can not only drive compliance with fast-evolving regulations in the European Union and other locations, but they can connect more deeply with customers around important sustainability and responsible sourcing efforts.”
