Canon U.S.A.’s executive vice president garners inclusion to the 60 Most Influential Long Islanders List for 2024 and the LIBN Hall of Fame Class of 2024

MELVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island Business News announced its 60 Most Influential Long Islanders for 2024, with Seymour Liebman, executive vice president of Canon U.S.A., Inc., earning inclusion for his contributions to both the company and his community.

Additionally, Liebman was also honored by the LIBN with induction into its 2024 Hall of Fame class, which recognizes the most distinguished leaders in the business community who have left an indelible mark on their field and whose integrity, vision and selfless service have contributed positively to the community. The inductees were selected by LIBN staff and the media outlet’s presenting sponsor.

Earlier this year, Liebman celebrated 50 years of service at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions. Since joining the company in 1974, Liebman has received numerous awards, and earned inclusion on this year’s list, which celebrates those in the local business community who demonstrate professional success; community commitment; ability to persevere during challenging times; and overall character, creativity and compassion that inspire others.

The prestigious list encompasses honorees from a variety of industries who each were deemed to have impacted the Long Island community in a profound way. The list was drawn from various professional sectors, including business, education, medicine, transportation, media, real estate and government.

Liebman currently serves as the executive vice president, chief administrative officer, and general counsel of Canon U.S.A., Inc., and senior managing executive officer of Canon Inc.

The Hall of Fame induction will take place on November 7 at the Crest Hollow Country Club, with Liebman part of a 15-member class who will be celebrated at the dinner.

“I am thankful to the LIBN for these numerous honors and I am humbled by my induction into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024 and also my inclusion to the Most Influential Long Islanders list,” Liebman said. “To be listed again with some of Long Island's most respected and accomplished leaders in the business community is a great privilege. I congratulate my fellow Hall of Fame inductees on this tremendous achievement."

Liebman joined the Canon U.S.A. Accounting Division in 1974 as a manager and was promoted to Vice President in 1987. In 1989, he established the in-house legal department at Canon U.S.A. In 1996, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Administration and Regional Operations as well as being named General Counsel. In addition to these positions, Liebman was appointed Chief Administrative Officer in 2008.

Over the course of his tenure, Liebman has seen the company make significant strides technologically and within the community. Canon Inc., Canon U.S.A., Inc.’s parent company, has ranked in the top-five overall companies in U.S. patents granted for 38 consecutive years and Canon has expanded into multiple new industries during this time. He continues to cultivate a strong community-service presence, with major roles in many of the corporate social responsibility initiatives, including Clean Earth Crew projects that work to clean local parks and beaches. Liebman also helped champion the relocation of the Canon U.S.A., Inc. headquarters from Lake Success to Melville, where it has played a prominent role in the community for more than a decade.
