- TOKYO, Japan—Seiko Epson Corporation will once again be an official partner of "Onigiri Action 2024." The annual campaign, campaign which will be held from October 3rd to November 16th, is organized by TABLE FOR TWO International (TFT), a non-profit organization working to solve global food problems.

The level of hunger in the world remains high. The United Nations estimates that the number of hungry people in the world in 2023 will reach up to 757.2 million. According to a report by the UN in July of this year, even though there is enough food produced to feed everyone on the planet, one in 11 people does not have enough to eat and is in a state of hunger.*

Epson provides environmental, social, and economic assistance with the aim of achieving sustainability and enriching communities. Among these, Epson has set out nine actions to be taken, and since "eliminating inequality" and "supporting children" are in line with the very purpose of the Onigiri Action, Epson decided to sponsor the Onigiri Action again this year.

During the Onigiri Action campaign, if you post a photo related to onigiri with the hashtag #OnigiriAction on social media (Instagram, X, Facebook) or on the global campaign website, partner organizations each will provide five school meals to children in need in Africa and Asia through TFT. Last year, many employees as well as members of the public posted photos using the #epson_onigiri hashtag, resulting in the delivery of school meals.

Epson will also be accepting entries for the Onigiri Action Sponsor Partner Award "Full Heart and Stomach Award" at the "Onigiri Photo Grand Prix" hosted by TFT. The grand prize winner will be awarded an Epson printer from those who post delicious onigiri photos that make them smile.

In addition, Epson will continue to release original design paper with illustrations of onigiri for free in 2024 so that more people can have fun participating in Onigiri Action. You can choose your favorite content from a variety of designs, print it out, and take a photo to use as a photo related to onigiri. In addition, we will also have designs created in collaboration with Nissan Serena, which is sponsoring Onigiri Action this year.
