Hunter Luxury Redefining Exclusivity with Ultra-Limited Edition Glenlivet 50-Year-Old Single Malt Packaging

Press release from the issuing company

Luxury packaging expert Hunter Luxury has unveiled its latest collaboration is one of the most exclusive packaging launches in history – 12 bespoke wooden boxes for The Glenlivet: The Twelve Elements, a historic 50-year-old single malt whisky.

The collection consists of 12 unique bottles containing a blend of two casks of single malt whisky, aged since 1974 and bottled at a cask strength of 47.4%. Each of the 12 individual bottles carries a unique label themed after one of the elements needed to make the finest whisky; air, barley, cooper, copper, the distiller, earth, fire, heritage, time, water, wood, and the angel’s share – the term given to the whisky lost to evaporation during the ageing process.

Each bottle is packed in a hand-carved wooden box designed to meet the highest standards by Hunter Luxury, featuring a high gloss lacquer with metal detailing and a printed hydrographic ‘moat’ frame to display the bottle, sealed with a bespoke electroplated brass amulet. Each of the amulets carried a unique design based on one of the 12 elements from which the collection takes its name.

“This was a uniquely exciting project to work on,” said Paul Hamilton, Head of Spirits at Hunter Luxury. “As it was just 12 units, it’s not a project that many packaging companies would take on, but we knew we could do it and are thrilled at how the final product turned out.

“When you work with such a limited run of units, things like quality control checks and contingency plans take on a whole new importance. We were also working on a quick turnaround time, so to take a project like this from conceptualisation to completion while hitting the customer’s brief within the required timescale is a testament to the skill and design expertise of our team”

The new collection combines the magic of traditional distillation with cutting-edge technology to create a single malt unlike any other. While the whisky itself is traditionally distilled and aged, its labels consist of AI-generated artwork, and it is exclusively sold on the digital marketplace The Whisky Exchange Cabinet. This blockchain-enabled trader provides proof of purchase in the form of an NFT, providing improved transparency and security when trading rare whisky.

“I want to thank our partners at The Glenlivet and the design agency JDO for their collaboration on this exciting project,” added Hamilton. “This was a high-profile and potentially risky project for all parties, and their collaborative spirit helped us set new standards for premium whisky packaging.”

The Glenlivet: The Twelve Elements collection is on sale at The Whisky Exchange Cabinet now at an initial price of €40,000.
