Epson Endorses TNFD Recommendations and Commits to Disclosures Aligned with TNFD Framework

Press release from the issuing company

- Pursuing initiatives to conserve biodiversity -

TOKYO - Seiko Epson Corporation has expressed its support for the public disclosure recommendations published by the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)1 in September 2023 and has registered as a TNFD Adopter2. Epson has committed to start making disclosures aligned with the TNFD Framework3 in 2025 and update the content as needed.

Epson believes that maintaining healthy biodiversity is essential for sustaining business and the lives of its employees. The company is taking two basic approaches to preserving biodiversity: (1) preserving biodiversity through business, and (2) raising employee awareness of biodiversity.

To date, Epson has made steady progress in mitigating factors that result in biodiversity loss, such as climate change and pollution. We have done so through initiatives to reduce environmental impact, including measures to combat climate change, resource recycling and conservation, and pollution prevention and chemical substance management.

Having endorsed the TNFD, Epson will compare, organize, and report on these and other initiatives in line with the TNFD Framework. The company will continue to contribute to sustainability by minimizing the negative impact of its activities on nature and biodiversity throughout the entire value chain and by working more in harmony with local ecosystems.

1 TNFD is an international initiative dedicated to establishing a framework that companies and organizations can use to assess and disclose the impact of their own economic activities on natural capital and biodiversity.

2 TNFD Adopters are companies and organizations that have registered on the TNFD website their intention to start making public disclosures aligned with TNFD Recommendations.

3 The TNFD Framework requires companies to assess and disclose the risks and opportunities of their business activities in relation to natural capital and biodiversity (dependencies and impacts).
