With a new venue, strong industry support, and a high expected turnout, the Graphic Communications Scholarship Foundation (GCSF) is predicting that its 2024 scholarship awards ceremony will be the most festive edition of the event in many years.
It will take place on Monday, June 24 at the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel, where the centerpiece will be the presentation of scholarship grants to more than one dozen students of graphic communications from the New York City metropolitan area. Local institutions that provide education in graphic communications will also receive grants.
Another highlight will be the presentation of GCSF’s “Champion of Education” award to Francis McMahon, Executive Vice President, Canon Solutions America. McMahon, a leader in the digitization of the print and graphic communications industry, is also one of its chief exponents of professional education and training.
“This year, we are pulling out the stops to host an awards ceremony that will also be a celebration of our industry and its importance as a career path for talented young people,” said John Aaron, President of GCSF. “We look forward to an evening of networking and socializing in honor of our students and the promise they represent for the future of the industry.”
GCSF, an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, has fostered the development of the print and graphic communications industry’s workforce in the New York City metropolitan area since 2002. It has raised and contributed more than $1.4 million in support of print industry education since awarding its first scholarships in its founding year.
