“Fusing digital and real” at one of the world’s biggest technology events to accelerate open innovation efforts in Europe with startups around the world

Tokyo – TOPPAN Digital Inc. (TOPPAN Digital), a TOPPAN Group company and wholly owned subsidiary of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., will participate in the Japan Pavilion at VIVA TECHNOLOGY 2024, which will be held in Paris from May 22 to 25.

VIVA TECHNOLOGY is one of the world’s leading tech events. With robust backing from the French government and the French president taking the stage every year, it attracts major companies and leading startups driving open innovation around the world as well as key people in the innovation space.

This year Japan has been selected as Country of the Year for the first time. Japan is the third country to be selected, following India and South Korea. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has sourced applications from startups and leading companies (collaborating with startups in Japan and overseas) to participate in the Japan Pavilion, and TOPPAN Digital will be one of the companies taking part.

Since 2019, the TOPPAN Group has been engaged in a capital and business alliance with Selinko SA, an IoT platform provider headquartered in Belgium. TOPPAN Digital and Selinko will participate in VIVA TECHNOLOGY 2024 together. The two companies intend to drive expansion of IoT solutions aligned with new market trends such as direct-to-consumer sales and the circular economy, a focus of increasing interest, particularly in the European luxury market. They also aim to collaborate with startups and major participating companies from around the world to accelerate open innovation activities in related fields such as AI, blockchain, NFTs, and the metaverse.

Centered on TOPPAN Digital’s NFC tags and Selinko’s cloud-based ID authentication platform, the two companies will display items such as smart packaging based on the concept of fusing digital IDs with packaging, as well as presenting solutions that address the following emerging needs of the luxury industry.
