Press release from the issuing company
For the fourth year in a row, Design Pool, LLC will be exhibiting at NeoCon, the world’s leading platform for the commercial interiors industry. The event takes place on June 10 – 12, 2024, at theMART in Chicago, IL.
Based in East Hampstead, New Hampshire, Design Pool is the only pattern library created exclusively for interior designers, with a focus on commercial interior markets. They partner with digital printers using the latest on-demand technology to give interior designers more options when specifying materials and giving them direct access to trusted digital printers. Their printing partners can print any pattern from Design Pool’s online library of nearly 1000 patterns onto various materials such as vinyl flooring, faux leather upholstery, acoustic panels, wallpaper, window film, and more.
In addition to introducing NeoCon attendees to their unique online platform and showing them how to use it, Design Pool will be launching two new collections.
The first collection, Light Play, is a collection designed by Dettoni for Veilish, an innovative woven window film available for commercial interiors through Graphix Unlimited. This film is a semi-transparent polyester fabric suitable for various surfaces. The woven texture adds a tactility not available in traditional window films. Available in three colors, it allows light in while retaining privacy. It also provides UV resistance and reduces harmful infrared rays by 25 – 33%, thereby reducing energy expenses by maintaining cooler room temperatures.
These fourteen patterns create a sense of transition between outside and inside and add an element of play and interactivity to an otherwise plain surface. For inspiration, Dettoni thought about playing in and with light and noticing shadows cast by plants next to the sidewalk, a person in the street, or a tree nearby. She also thought about ways people interact with light, such as by making shadow puppets with a flashlight at summer camp or adjusting the light dramatically while drawing in art school.
The second collection, Technology X Tradition, was designed by Dettoni for printing on the Dimensor-S 3D texture printer, a revolutionary new tactile printer that adds dimension to flat surfaces such as wallcovering. To show off this groundbreaking technology, Dettoni designed patterns highlighting its capability, with technology itself as her inspiration.
Designing for the seven patterns in this collection, Dettoni reflected on how textiles have always been intertwined with technology in both obvious and subtle ways. On a large scale, jacquard looms were the first computers. On a more intimate scale, stitching on textiles has long been a way for women to record their lives through symbols and words, providing a snapshot of a person and a culture at a moment in time. This connection inspired Dettoni to use cutting-edge technology to record our time. Her work asks, what symbols tell her personal story? What types of technology are impacting us in 2024?
Design Pool will be unveiling Light Play and Technology X Tradition at NeoCon 2024 and will have samples of both collections on hand. Find them on the 7th floor of theMART in Booth 7-3050. This event is free for attendees.
