WhatTheyThink Creates a Special Section for Offset Lithography

Press release from the issuing company

WhatTheyThink announces the launch of an editorial section dedicated to offset lithography. Curated by longtime contributor Patrick Henry, the new section will focus on technological progress and business opportunity in the world’s most widely used graphic reproduction process.

“Offset has always figured prominently in our editorial coverage,” said Eric Vessels, President of WhatTheyThink. “With many new advancements in offset technology ready to be announced at drupa and at the PRINTING United Expo this year, we decided that the moment was right to consolidate our reporting about this essential form of manufacturing for printers everywhere.”

The new section will offer a mix of news, features, and commentary about offset lithography, a 19th-century process that has evolved into one of the most efficient and productive methods of printing in the 21st. A central theme will be offset’s remarkable ability to adapt to changes in market demand for printed products. Coverage also will emphasize the matchless quality of offset printing for commercial applications, publishing, and packaging.

“Progress in offset tends to fly under the radar in an industry that has so enthusiastically embraced digital alternatives to it,” said Henry, who has written for WhatTheyThink almost since its founding. “But that progress is genuine, and the aim of the new section will be to give offset the full measure of editorial attention it deserves.”

Coverage will include reporting from the upcoming drupa and PRINTING United events. Readers with news and story ideas to share are invited to send them to the section editor at [email protected].
