Press release from the issuing company
BERLIN / WESEL, Germany – Quantica, an advanced additive manufacturing technology company, will team up with ALTANA Cubic Ink®, a global leader in true specialty chemicals, with the aim to drive the innovation of new materials in 2D and 3D inkjet printing.
As part of this cooperation, ALTANA’s Cubic Ink® High Performance Materials brand will provide materials that will serve as a starter kit for users working with Quantica’s groundbreaking NovoJet™ OPEN printing system. The NovoJet™ OPEN, an open lab printer premiered by Quantica in late 2023, is capable of using new materials for inkjet application development, enabling users to work with their own materials. The purpose of the ALTANA starter kit is to offer a base material for those who lack materials and are looking for a place to start.
Grace Chang, Quantica Head of Product Management and Partnership shares, “We are excited to work with a partner like ALTANA and its Cubic Ink® brand, combining their material expertise and our technological capabilities, we see this as a complimentary alliance. They understand the opportunities and obstacles inherent in inkjet and multi-material additive manufacturing, and are excited to team up to offer the industry new materials.”
Looking to the future, Quantica and ALTANA are eager to collaborate on efforts aimed at expanding the material portfolio for inkjet technologies, particularly focusing on 2D applications. With the aim of introducing new materials and enhancing current ones in the inkjet market, including the development of higher viscosity variants to expand end-user applications.
Dr. Max Röttger, Head of Cubic Ink®, stated “Quantica’s high viscosity printing technology has the potential to bring multi-material 3D printing to an industrial level. We are excited to support, thanks to our in-depth knowledge in UV -formulation chemistry and in both inkjet as well as DLP/LCD 3D printing technologies.”
The cooperation launch underscores Quantica's ongoing growth and commitment to innovation, as demonstrated by a string of milestones achieved in the past months: The company announced a partnership with measurement system’s provider ImageXpert, introduced an AI-based build management and slicing software named MultiSlice (in cooperation with Czech start-up Additive Appearance), unveiled its NovoJet™ OPEN system at Formnext 2023, forged a strategic printhead partnership with industry leader Xaar and (earlier in 2023) successfully secured a EUR 14 million series A funding round.
