Press release from the issuing company
DUBLIN, Ohio - Corbis (www.corbis.com), the leading provider of digital images to consumer and creative professional markets, has chosen Metatec International (Nasdaq: META) to provide supply chain management services for its photo image CDs and catalog business.
Metatec will focus on delivering supply chain solutions for Corbis’ royalty-free stock photo images and printed catalogs. The inventory of CDs and collateral material will be housed and managed at Metatec’s state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Dublin, Ohio, where orders from across the U.S. will be fulfilled. Supply chain services included in the two-year agreement initially include fulfillment, warehousing, distribution and inventory management services, with the option of additional services in the future.
“Metatec’s full suite of services that include fulfillment, distribution, direct-to-customer shipments, state-of-the-art inventory management and highly detailed Web-based information reporting and tracking will enable Corbis to outsource its supply chain needs with confidence and give it the freedom to concentrate resources on its core business,” said Christopher Munro, Metatec chief operating officer.
“Corbis sought a distribution partner that could provide robust combination of technology, size and scope and scalable supply chain solutions,” said Bob St. Clair, Corbis vice president for global operations. “We selected Metatec because they provided these elements, but also because they are able to grow with us in a Web-enabled environment to integrate our current and future ordering and supply information systems technology, to embrace multiple distribution locations and to handle distribution needs from all over the U.S."
Metatec’s ability to deploy advanced information systems for maximum ordering and inventory accuracy, its online reporting capability for tracking shipments to multiple points and its capability to provide rapid-turnaround shipments enable customers like Corbis to take orders as late as 9:30 p.m. and still get next-day shipment to its customers.
