GPO Named One of America's Best Employers for Veterans for the Second Year in a Row

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) has been named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Employers for Veterans 2023. The Agency was also recognized for this honor in 2022. GPO has a long-standing history of employing veterans dating back to the Civil War and currently employs a little more than 500 veterans who make up a third of the Agency’s workforce. For decades, the Agency has hosted an annual Veterans Day Program in recognition of the service and sacrifice of our GPO veteran teammates. This year, Army veteran and former Prisoner of War, Jessica Lynch was the guest speaker at the event.

“Veterans are a critical part of our team and the work we do for the Federal Government and the American people,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “Forbes’ recognition for the second straight year is a testament to all of the veterans on our team. I thank GPO’s veterans for their service in uniform and their continued service to the Nation at our Agency. ”

Forbes and Statista selected GPO as part of the America’s Best Employers for Veterans 2023 through an independent survey from a vast sample of nearly 8,500 U.S. veterans (having served in the United States Armed Forces- either in the regular military or in the National Guard or military reserves) working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the United States. Veterans were asked to give their opinion on a series of statements related to general topics regarding their own employer like atmosphere & development, image, working conditions, salary & wage, workplace, and diversity, as well as a set of topics related specifically to the interests of veterans in the workplace.

GPO is the Federal Government’s resource for publishing trusted information for the Federal Government to the American people.
