Komori and MBO Celebrate a Milestone Anniversary and the Unveiling of New Products at PRINTING United

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL—Komori America—Komori America will be celebrating Komori Corporation’s 100th anniversary this year at PRINTING United Expo Booth #B915 on October 18-20. To highlight how far the industry has come, Komori will be displaying an original Komori press from the 1930s, showing the stark contrast of developments in automation today. The company will also be sharing the many ways Komori has evolved its focus from a printing press manufacturer to a print engineering service provider (PESP) to make it possible for print providers to expand their revenue stream with new solutions in packaging and commercial print. Examples of this include Komori’s GX/G advance series of offset presses that support both the thrust for digital transformation and sustainability with the ability to fully automate and link to other production processes, and the company’s System G38 web offset press with LED-UV curing, designed to provide high-volume production with a lower carbon footprint and energy savings.

MBO America, sharing Booth #B915 with Komori, is showcasing its solutions that go beyond typical B1 folding. A Bograma BSR 550 Diecutter will be producing folding cartons and postcards from the same machine, a solution for today’s new commercial printer. A hybrid stitching line will be demonstrating the ability to run four different jobs from both rollfed inkjet print and cutsheet inkjet print sources, all while having MBO’s CoBo-Stack automated palletizer stack the finished product with no labor.

Additionally, MBO will be showing five new rollfed finishing modules including: the SVC 23 Sheeter, the DFT 23 Folder, the ZSS 23 Automatic Splicer, the CC 23 Contour Cutter and the SC 23 Spot Coater. The new modules are all sized to fit the most popular inkjet production web widths up to 23” wide. The wider capability can provide increased productivity for many jobs, such as brochures, response letters and postcard direct mail when imposed on wider webs. The CC 23 and SC 23 are embellishment modules able to add value to the final product through additional cuts, non-square edge trims, patterned perforations, window knockouts, tactile touch sensations and eye-catching surface finishes, all intended to enhance the final product to achieve better conversion rates. The ZSS 23 Automatic Splicer will remove downtime between job changes by automatically splicing a new roll to an expiring roll, without slowing or stopping the finishing line or press.

“This is a milestone year for Komori and PRINTING United gives us the perfect opportunity to meet with our customers who have been an integral part of our success,” said Lance Martin, vice president, marketing, Komori America and MBO America. “We are also excited to showcase all the new MBO systems displayed in the booth as they support Komori’s PESP approach to bringing together technologies and networks that provide customers with advanced, robust, seamless printing production systems that help resolve major challenges printing companies are now confronting.”
