Bowne Hires Former Donnelley Financial VP to Lead New Business Development

New York, May 15 -- Bowne & Co., Inc. (NYSE: BNE), the world's largest financial printer and a leader in document and information management, today announced that James E. Fagan, Jr. is joining the company as a senior vice president. In the newly created position, Mr. Fagan will be responsible for business strategy and new business development. He will focus primarily upon the emerging market for customized and personalized communications that leverage document-on-demand and print-on-demand solutions. Mr. Fagan will serve on Bowne's senior management team and report to the Office of the Chairman. Carl Crosetto, president of Bowne said, "Jim's joining Bowne is a real coup for us. There are only a handful of senior executives within the financial printing arena with multi-functional experience in sales and strategic planning. As we continue to diversify and grow our core business in the mutual fund and integrated financial communications area, his ideas, leadership and experience and will be invaluable to us." Mr. Fagan began his career in financial printing with Donnelley Financial, and held positions of increasing responsibility with both Donnelley and Bowne throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Most recently he served as senior vice president and director of capital market global sales at Donnelley Financial, where he was responsible for growth and strategic development of its core business within the Financial Printing group, the development of Donnelley's international platform in Europe, Asia and Latin America, as well as the acquisition and integration of key companies in the domestic transactional market. Mr. Fagan holds a B.A. from LeMoyne University and an M.A. from St. John's University. Mr. Fagan also holds a Certificate in International Executive Management from Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. Among his community activities are his involvement with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New York, where he serves as treasurer. Mr. Fagan lives in Rockville Center with his wife, Cathy, and their three children.
