Press release from the issuing company
MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - Graphic Arts Advisors (GAA), a leading M&A advisory and consulting firm serving the printing, packaging, and graphic communications industries, is pleased to announce the recently completed sale of Century Direct, LLC in Islandia, New York to Content Critical Solutions, Inc, a subsidiary of Triangle Services. GAA was engaged by Century Direct to discreetly find a buyer and to negotiate the sale of the business.
Mike Kellogg, CEO of Century Direct, discussed his past M&A experience and decision to engage GAA when the time came to sell the company. “During my tenure at Century Direct, I led the team in the purchase of several companies. Over the years, we learned a lot about buying and integrating companies. However, we had no experience in selling a company. We knew that in contrast to the purchase of a company, a different set of considerations and tensions would occur during the sale process than the buying process. As a buyer oftentimes the purchase opportunities come to you; much different than taking your business to market. We knew that we needed a resource to help us with the sale process.”
“We chose Mark Hahn and the GAA team because we felt that the go-to-market process they had developed was clearly defined, controlled, proactive, and rigorous” continued Kellogg. “With solid counsel, experience and clearly defined goals and documentation, we ultimately found the right buyer and maintained the momentum needed to finalize the deal.”
Fred Van Alstyne, Chief Operating Officer at Content Critical Solutions, noted “This acquisition nearly doubles the size of our print and mail division and offers additional backup capabilities inherent with having multiple locations. Our organization now includes three dynamic brands, Content Critical Solutions, Fitch Group and Century Direct. We are excited to expand our service offerings to include Century Direct’s state-of-the-art direct mail marketing services to our customers nationwide.”
“The sale of a company with a unionized workforce is not an everyday occurrence in the printing industry M&A marketplace,” commented Mark Hahn, who led the outreach campaign and personally contacted another union shop, Content Critical Solutions, about the Century Direct opportunity. “It turned out that both companies shared the same union and had complimentary business strategies to address the technologically driven convergence of data-driven direct mail and transactional print communications. This common ground paved the way for the companies to join forces under the Triangle Services umbrella.”
