Press release from the issuing company
Labelexpo, the largest industry event for the label industry, is about to open its doors, and the entire BOBST team is eagerly preparing to welcome you at our booth 3A58 - 3A59. We understand the challenges you face in this dynamic industry and recognize the rapid advancements in technology.
BOBST, we are committed to simplifying label production for our customers together with our extensive partner network, and we are excited to showcase our innovative solutions at Labelexpo. Our solutions presented at the event are based on three key trends that will shape the future of our industry by 2030:
Commodity vs. High Value: Market dynamics reveal a clear departure from a more balanced allocation, channeling resources towards both the lower and upper bounds of the spectrum. From utilitarian, low-margin commodity applications to intricate, high-value label solutions encompassing security integration, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) capabilities, and artistically sophisticated designs.
Sustainability as a Top Priority: By 2030, the demand for sustainable and eco-friendly labels will surge, and it will become a priority for every brand owner to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging.
Lack of workforce: The label industry is confronted with the impacts of a generational shift and evolving skillsets. To navigate this, label printing machine solutions should be user-friendly, with minimal human intervention and rapid learning, ensuring efficient usage and operation by unskilled operators.
Here at BOBST, we are collaborating with our partners and customers to find avenues for proactively addressing the challenges confronted by label converters.
What available support do we have for these three trends above?
The commoditization of label production means minimizing human interaction in the entire production flow. Human errors and inefficient workflows are costly and incompatible with commodity production, where thin margins require effective competition. Sustainability is necessary to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
These three trends have something in common. They require innovation and passion for the packaging industry. With more than 130 years’ experience and over 1,100 label machines installed worldwide, we have the machinery, solutions and technical expertise needed. I welcome you to visit us at Labelexpo and get a firsthand look at what BOBST stands for. We're all about forging a strong and lasting partnership.
Let’s take a look at what you will experience at Labelexpo
Our presses, including the ones showcased at Labelexpo, are designed with numerous innovations that enhance automation. The DIGITAL MASTER Series features a built-in digital front end (DFE) connected to a fully automated printing module, which handles calibration and cleaning routines independently. It seamlessly connects to flexo modules equipped with features such as automated pressure and register setting. For finishing, we have the latest automated and easy-to-operate cutting solutions. Our quality control system, based on BOBST ACCUCHECK technology, ensures meticulous label inspection from color stability to print errors. If any mistakes are detected, the machines’ prompt action minimizes waste. Although this may sound like science fiction, we can confidently say that we have simplified label production.
The same applies to our conventional flexo presses. The BOBST M6 press showcased at Labelexpo is the most automated inline flexo press in the market. A key feature is the completely automatic flexo job changeover made possible thanks to the patented BOBST V-Flower technology. In combination with DigiFlexo registration and pressure adjustment, as well as BOBST oneECG color management, changing a job can be performed in under one minute with minimal ink, material and electricity waste, making it the most sustainable conventional solution. In addition to BOBST gravure and CI flexo presses, the MASTER M6 is the most suitable press for mainstream short-to mid-run flexible packaging and shrink sleeve applications, as digital doesn’t provide yet the productivity and cost required for this segment.
Value-added - This is where your equipment needs to offer maximum flexibility. Each job will be unique, and clients will have specific requirements. Additionally, customization plays a crucial role in today's label production, catering to unique labels, short runs, and customer requests. Modularity of our in-line flexo and digital machines enables customization which can produce complex applications in one pass.
Commodity – for these applications, your equipment, in-line flexo and digital, require a high degree of automation and digitalization, aiming for minimum waste, increased ease-of-use and high throughput. Solutions such as BOBST ACCUCHECK, DigiFlexo, new Sphere HMI are addressing these pain points and we will showcase these on our booth. Register now for a one-on-one appointment with our experts.
Sustainability is one of the four pillars of BOBST’s strategy. At our booth, we will showcase various sustainable options, including AD LinrSave™ solution, new substrates, most waste & energy efficient conventional printing solution (e.g., UV lamps & oneECG on BOBST M6), quality control systems like ACCUCHECK, and automation systems like DigiFlexo. These advancements reduce human errors, minimize waste, and contribute to a more environmentally friendly production process. By 2030, a considerable number of labels will be made from recycled or biodegradable materials. New inks, energy-efficient printing processes, and reduced waste generation will become industry standards. We recognize these demands and are actively working towards meeting them.
At Labelexpo 2023, we want to ensure that you experience firsthand how BOBST label solutions, driven by innovation and ease-of-use, lead the way to countless applications. Our aim is not to overwhelm you with information and product features, but to show you how we are simplifying label production.
We look forward to seeing you at Labelexpo, at our booth 3A58 - 3A59.
