Six-ton punch press installed in one piece to diminish reassembly errors and expedite time to full operation.
Oberschleissheim, Germany – Schreiner ProTech, a Germany-based global leader in developing and manufacturing innovative functional labels with value-added benefits for the automotive and engineering-based industries, has installed an intricate six-ton punch press into its new Pressure Compensation Seals Process Center. Notably, the installation was performed in one piece, which involved lifting the cumbersome machinery three stories in the air and painstakingly placing it into its new home. This all-in-one-piece approach eliminated the possibilities for errors in the dissemnly and reassembly process, and also will expedite the equipment’s window to full operation.
Moving forward, Schreiner ProTech’s new Pressure Compensation Seals Process Center will centralize the company’s PCS production, handling all production-related duties from initial materials reception to final pressure compensation seal manufacturing. A key consideration in the new facility’s establishment was compliance with current and future technical cleanliness requirements, particularly those enforced in the automotive and electronics industries. The space’s enhanced architectural and spatial features will allow Schreiner ProTech to meet and exceed such requirements.
The high-precision punch is utilized for exclusive, customized products, such as Schreiner ProTech’s PCS HighProtect and nameplate-integrated PCS applications. The infrastructure was specifically developed and purchased for the purpose of complying with the exacting tolerances and requirements of the automotive industry for these types of complex, multilayered products.
In addition, by providing more room and improved layout for extensive functional inbound goods inspections, in-process inspections, and automated finished parts inspections. the PCS Process Center will help Schreiner ProTech further enhance its already high quality standards. The continuation of short throughput times, and the utilization of advanced manufacturing technologies that enhance product reliability, round out the process center’s benefits set.
