Vycom Helps Divert Rigid Materials from Landfills with Successful Recycling Program at International Sign Expo 2023

Press release from the issuing company

1,350 pounds of rigid PVC and acrylic materials will be repurposed into high-performance products

SCRANTON, PA – Vycom®, a market-leading manufacturer of highly innovative plastic sheet products, wrapped up another successful recycling program targeted specifically for exhibitors using rigid PVC and acrylic at the ISA International Sign Expo 2023, held in Las Vegas, April 12-14, 2023. Vycom collected 1,350 pounds of rigid PVC and acrylic scrap from the show floor.

Designated collection bins were stationed in partner OEM booths including Canon, CET Color, Cutworx, Fluid Color, Kongsberg and Mimaki, doubling the number of recycling participants from the 2022 show. Working with ISA, Mandalay Bay, and Freeman as the official event services provider for the show, printed and cut sheets, scraps, and trim were collected and held in the ISA Green Zone before being returned to the company for recycling and processing.

This is the third sign and graphics focused show where Vycom has collected rigid PVC and acrylic for recycling as many exhibitors use these materials for product demonstrations. At this time, Vycom has collected more than 6,500 pounds of material from three shows over a one-year period.

The scrap material collected will be reprocessed into the company’s internal products, ensuring they do not end up in landfills. The program was provided at no charge to participating International Sign Expo 2023 exhibitors and is a win-win-win for all – the print service provider/fabricator, the customer, and the environment. With the opportunity to keep tens of millions of pounds of signage and graphics waste out of landfills each year, Vycom is leading the way in revolutionizing the industry to create a more sustainable future.

About the Vycom Recycling Program
The Vycom Recycling Program is designed to take back and recycle printed and unprinted rigid PVC, acrylic, and HDPE sheets, as well as scraps and drops from finishing and fabricating. The program is intended for users of these materials – in coordination with authorized distributors for drop-off or collection – to recycle used signage and scrap, which is returned to company recycling facilities. It is subsequently used to manufacture the company’s residential and commercial outdoor living and exterior products, ensuring these materials do not end up in landfills.
