Lenexa, KS - Winkler+Dunnebier (W+D) , the worldwide leader in high-performance envelope converting and direct mail inserting technology for the mailing markets is pleased to announce the introduction of a new converting machine product that is targeted for manufactures of e-commerce mailer bags. The new W+D machine is called the W+D 449 and is W+D’s latest development for the large paper-based packaging segment that focuses on e-commerce shipping and fulfillment.

The W+D 449 is a large-format pocket envelope machine for the size range 12 in. x 8.8 in. up to 18.7 in. x 14.7 inch . It is specially designed for processing a variety of heavier types of papers. There are different bag designs possible from the W+D 449 machine. A standard pocket-type mail bag pack with or without expansion gussets , a zero-waste and a block-bottom design can all be produced.

The W+D 449 machine is designed with ease of use, produce feature flexibility and high net production output all in a single machine workflow. This new design produces one to two peal-and-seal strips, opening perforation or tear strips and peal-and-seal strips for returns. Optional integration of 4 color flexo printer inline can add to product features. The W+D 449 offers a high level of automation like preset for folding and cutting cylinders, and transport tracks storing the format data in a “format memory” to make this design very operator friendly. Nearly tool-less changeovers and scales further make any adjustment very easy for the operator. The high-performance single inline workflow design of the W+D 449 is capable of producing up to to 300 mailer bags per minute (18,000 per/ hr).
