Press release from the issuing company
Environmental sustainability begins with operating a sustainable business. This requires attention to detail and a consistent focus on optimizing the process. Optimization boils down to using less and getting more. The THINK® Process results in less paper, ink, chemistry, energy, waste, consumables and time. It also delivers more consistency, utilization, and productivity resulting in a more profitable printing operation. The byproducts of this optimized process are a safer and more sustainable environment both for the planet and your employees.
First of all, let’s start with the substrate, THINK® can be used with all papers, paperboards, poly-boards, and plastics. A consistent controlled process results in less restart and rerun waste. How many restarts does a machine have a shift? What is your normal restart waste? If you could reduce restart waste by 10, 20 or 30 sheets how would that affect the waste stream? Keep in mind waste is not just the paper but includes the ink, chemistry, and press time to produce it!
Process Highlights:
1. Increased mileage vs. traditional inks: Expect a reduction of 30% to 50% by weight.
2. Reduction in PMS color utilization: The stability of THINK® allows for a massive extension of the density range. This greatly simplifies the use of extended gamut, whether it is XCMYK or XCMYKOGV. This results in fewer wash-ups, more productive time, and a reduction in the use of chemistry and rags.
3. Increased print quality; If you can plate it THINK® can print it. 5-micron dots are easily reproducible.
Smaller dots reduce dry time and allow for easier register fit.See included “Shakespeare” example below.
4. THINK® can be coated inline with negligible gloss back using aqueous or UV coatings.
5. Longer roller and blanket life results in a reduced waste stream and increased productivity. Rubber compounds are negatively affected by heat and chemical attack from hydrocarbon-based solvents. Utilization of the THINK® Process results in dramatic increases in roller and blanket life.
6. No special water requirements. It requires 7 gallons of house water to make 1 gallon of RO water.
THINK® is not affected by the water composition, a filtered supply of water whether tap or well will perform just fine.
7. Compared to UV: Less energy, less misting, more mileage, and no ozone.
8. Thin Ink replaces UV ink in the sheetfed process. Reduction in overall cost.
9. THINK® and the associated chemistry is near odorless. This creates a better environment for securing and retaining employees. It also creates a selling point for products sold in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and medical markets.
10. The THINK® Process provides a better and safer work environment by eliminating HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants), Federal 313 list chemicals, California Prop 65 chemicals, heavy metals, and regulated toxins.
11. The THINK® Process provides a pathway for Nestle and Swiss Protocol certification.
Although many advances in equipment technology and automation have taken place in the last few decades, the process of offset has remained largely unchanged. THINK® is truly 21 st century technology and can deliver a sustainable and profitable future for printers who take advantage of its capabilities.
