Hale Hawkins, Lewisburg Printing Company, Named PIAS’ 2022 Person of the Year

(Nashville, TN) – Mr. Hale Hawkins, CEO of Lewisburg Printing Company in Lewisburg, Tennessee, was named by the Printing Industry Association of the South, Inc. (PIAS) as their 2022 Person of the Year. This honor was bestowed at a banquet held on June 21, 2022 during the PIAS Annual Convention at the Hilton SanDestin Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Hale was born in Lewisburg Tennessee to Thomas III and Patricia Hawkins. After graduating from Marshall County High School, Hale attended Murray State University where he graduated in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Print Management. After graduation, Hale joined his family’s local printing company, Lewisburg Printing, starting from the ground up. He had his beginnings in all facets of the company, working in estimating, production and customer service. Hale was promoted to General Manager in 2000 and became President & CEO in 2002.

In his management role, Hale has inspired an exceptionally successful business strategy and culture at the company. From $4 million in sales, Hale has grown the company to the over $130 million company it is today. He has ensured continuing success through his ongoing investment in cutting-edge technology, hiring the right people and listening to the voice of the customer.

Under Hale’s executive lead, the company has won many awards, most notably —
Best Supplier from the top companies in the United States. With a commitment to the company’s shared values – Integrity, Respect, Trust, Passion, Credibility & Continuous Improvement – Hale has placed an indelible mark on the culture that makes up the company which his family has led since 1898.

Hale has served as a Printers Disability Trustee since 2016 and still serves today. He currently serves on the boards of the First Commerce Bank, the Marshall County Economic Development Board and the Chamber of Commerce to which he was a previous Chairman.

Hale began serving on the PIAS Board of Directors in 2006. He began serving on the Executive Committee in 2011, culminating as the Chairman of the Board from 2014 to 2015. He follows his late father, Thomas (Tommy) Hawkins, III who also served as PIAS Chairman in 2000 and who was awarded PIAS Person of the Year in 2005.

He’s been married to his lovely wife Kathryn for 27 years and together they were blessed with four children: Haley, Thomas, Annie and Rob. They were recently blessed with their first grandchild this past February.

Several of his family was in attendance at the award presentation with love and support as he received this honor.

The PIAS Person of the Year is chosen for service to the printing industry, community and betterment of the graphic arts industry as a whole.
