PEWAUKEE, WI — The Great Lakes Graphics Association is now accepting nominations for the second Annual Women in Print Excellence Award. This sought-after female-specific award supports our ongoing quest to recognize the contributions of women in the Midwest print, graphic arts, finishing and print packaging community as well as those women who support the print industry in a vendor or supplier capacity.
Eligibility
Any woman working directly in print or in a vendor role supporting print who is in good standing with her company in the states of Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin. Any level or title of employee is eligible.
Eligibility Criteria – What Makes a Great Nominee – Consider the Following:
Passion for print and anything resembling print. Include examples if appropriate.
Experience in a print organization or in a vendor/supplier who supports print.
Community Advocacy – how does she support and/or advocate for print away from work (designing sports flyers, volunteering in service organizations, supporting sustainability, etc.)
Mentoring – how does she provide a platform for other women to grow and develop, formally or informally.
Process
Anyone (female or male) can nominate a candidate. For more information and to download the nomination form, visit www.glga.info. Completed nominations are due by March 18, 2022.
A panel of female print professionals outside of the Midwest will judge the nominations and select a winner(s). Winner(s) will be announced in late April and celebrated at the Graphics Excellence Award Celebrations in Chicago and Milwaukee on May 25, 2022.
GLGA’s Women in Print Excellence Awards were launched in 2021. In its first year, the new award had an exceptional class of nominees who represented a wide spectrum of roles in which women make contributions to print. The inaugural recipients were Mary Lawrence, President of Richards Graphic Communications, Bellwood, Illinois; Julia Farrell, Vice President of The National Group, Lafayette, Indiana; and Mary Jo Johnson, CEO/Owner of EO Johnson Business Technologies, Wausau, Wisconsin.
“The printing industry continues to emerge as an industry that welcomes gender equality, and we are honored to present the Women in Print Excellence Awards for a second year," said Joseph Lyman, president of GLGA.
