3/16/01 (WhatTheyThink) According to a company spokesperson Agfa-Gevaert N.V. has been approached and is considering selling its film, finishing and laboratory equipment business. The potential buyer was not known at the time of this release. The units under consideration are part of the Consumer Imaging business segment. Agfa eluded to a potential buyer in its release of earnings yesterday, but a source said the deal is “far along in the process.” The company’s Board of Management is currently in negotiations with the potential buyer with authority to grant an option for the potential buyer to acquire the entire Consumer Imaging segment. The Consumer Imaging business contributed to almost 30 percent of Agfa’s total sales last year.
