Design Pool, LLC. Receives HiP Award & Metropolis Likes at NeoCon 2021

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL – This week Design Pool LLC was acknowledged as a HiP Award Winner for Health + Wellness: Fabrics + Textiles from Interior Design Magazine for Knowledge is Power, part of The Cryptology Collections. Interior Design’s 8th Annual HiP Awards is a recognition program honoring industry people and innovative products. Awards were given in a wide range of categories to honor commercial industry pioneers and achievements in product design. The 2021 awards were hosted at NeoCon by editor-in-chief Cindy Allen on Sunday, October 3.

This collection of original pattern designs was inspired by code, the hidden messages they communicate, and the women codebreakers of World War II. The collection was designed by Kristen Dettoni and is part of Design Pool’s digital library, the only pattern library created exclusively for interior designers and home to over 600 pattern designs.

All patterns in Knowledge is Power are digitally printed on-demand by their printing partner, LDI Interiors on EnviroLeather, their luxurious, leather-like line of wipeable coated fabrics. This fabric uses innovative technology in performance coatings and formulations and is leading the movement toward sustainable, high-performance, less toxic fabrics. Design Pool was an honoree in two additional categories; Hospitality: Wall Covering and Workplace: Acoustical Applications.

In each design in the collection, Dettoni started her design process with a hidden message written in code. She then used that coded message to create shapes and finally created a pattern from those shapes. On the surface, each of these patterns may look like just another pattern, but they all contain a deeper message hidden in the code. Knowledge is Power includes a modern tossed floral, striking geometrics, and a versatile texture. The sophisticated color palette of neutrals and earth tones is well suited for healthcare interiors.

In addition to the HiP Award, Design Pool also received a Metropolis Likes recognition from Metropolis Magazine for their acoustic collection. Radio Waves. Also part of The Cryptology Collections, this collection of patterns is printed with Arizona-based printer Image Craft.

These unique panels by Image Craft flatten noise levels in a room and have uniform color throughout the entire thickness. Panels contain a minimum of 60% recycled fiber from PET plastics. They are also completely recyclable at the end of life, have an “A” fire rating, are bleach cleanable, and are microbial resistant.

Kristen Dettoni, Design Pool founder and designer of the entire collection, was present at the awards ceremony and had this to say about winning. “I am honored that Design Pool has been recognized as a HiP Award Winner and also received a Metropolis Likes. I strongly believe in the future of on-demand manufacturing and I’m so excited to be leading the way toward making this technology accessible to interior designers while supplying them with beautiful, original designs like those in The Cryptology Collection.”

This is the first year Design Pool has exhibited at NeoCon. Founded in 2019, Design Pool is revolutionizing the way patterns find their way onto products and into interiors. Licensing arrangements in place between Design Pool and their partners assure no added cost to designers when they use a design from the Design Pool pattern library.
