Tharstern to Launch Brand-New Cloud MIS for the Label Sector

Press release from the issuing company

Tharstern are launching a brand-new cloud MIS for the label sector at a virtual event on the 27th July. Further details about the product won’t be released until this date, but its makers promise to reveal an innovative product and technology not normally seen in MIS solutions.

The new product is called Tharstern Cloud and will initially be available to label converters only, though in the future the product will evolve into other areas such as Large Format, Commercial and Packaging.

“We’ve built the brains in Tharstern Cloud to be sector neutral,” says Tharstern CEO Keith McMurtrie. “The approach we’ve taken means we can easily teach the brain of Tharstern Cloud to understand production processes in all print disciplines. So in the coming months, we’ll be evolving the MIS so that over time, it supports all types of print.”

The decision to create the new product took place three years ago and arose from a need to add additional functionality to their MIS for their label customers.

“Instead of adding this additional functionality into the current product, we saw an opportunity to start building a new cloud-based platform for the future generation of Tharstern MIS across all sectors,” says McMurtrie.

Rather than using their existing development resource, the company decided to hire an additional team to work on the new product, separating out the two development streams within the business. This meant they could continue to develop the current solution in tandem with the cloud product, and give their customers the option to choose between the two in the future.

“Other than the sharing of knowledge and experience, these two streams are completely independent of one another,” says McMurtrie. “So while the new development team work on the label product, our existing development team will continue to evolve and enhance the Tharstern MIS, responding to the needs of our customers and the market, and producing new tools and functionality, as they have always done.”

Tharstern say that this new cloud product is very different to their previous MIS solution and are looking forward to wowing attendees later this month. “We don’t want to say too much at this stage, but we believe the connectivity and technology behind Tharstern Cloud are unparalleled, and there are some exciting features that are beyond the typical scope of an MIS solution. I’m very excited to reveal all at the launch event.”

The official launch of Tharstern Cloud will take place on the 27th July at 3pm BST. Printing and converting companies are invited to attend, along with industry vendors interested in integration opportunities. Anyone interested in attending this virtual event can register at www.tharstern.com/launch
