OneVision Software Release 21.1: Prepress Software with New PDF/UA Technology and Proof Forms

Press release from the issuing company

  • Preconfigured assembly lines and templates for automated generation of proof forms and nesting reports
  • PDF/UA technology to ensure that PDF files are PDF/UA compliant

Regensburg – With the development of the new version 21.1, software manufacturer OneVision has equipped its prepress package Asura with powerful new features when it comes to "automated print file preparation" and "PDF workflow".

Time savings with automated proof forms and nesting reports

The creation of proof forms and nesting reports are – done manually – a tedious, time-consuming task for print service providers and one that is not paid for. OneVision now provides pre-configured assembly lines and templates that enable automated generation of proof forms and nesting reports, and thus fully automate these processes. The functionality can be used by all Asura and Automation Suite users through the "Proof Forms and VDP" module.

Verification on PDF/UA standard

The term "PDF/UA" refers to a defined ISO standard for barrier-free PDF technology, which allows content to be output by screen readers. This standard is mandatory, especially at universities, for administrative purposes and archiving. To ensure that the output file complies with this standard, OneVision's Preflight can now automatically check whether it is a valid PDF/UA document. Incorrect documents will be rejected, while correct files will retain their UA status during output.

Automatic bleed generation when elements are not positioned exactly

Files with cut lines often have elements to be printed that are not positioned exactly on the cut line, and just as often elements that are not positioned exactly on the trim box. In both cases, the new version 21.1 of the prepress software can now generate bleed correctly by defining a variance to compensate for misaligned objects.

Grouping of print files when nesting

In addition, OneVision's Nesting module comes with added functionality. Users can now decide whether elements should be kept together during nesting or not (random distribution of elements on a sheet is thus avoided). Especially for cross-customer nesting, grouping elements can be of great advantage for fast, well-structured finishing.

Asura technology is also included in the OneVision Automation Suites for wide format, label, book, and commercial printing.
