February 28, 2001 - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Japan-based Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ) and market leader in imaging solutions, and Advanced Hi-Tech (AHT), a market leader in the development and manufacture of solutions that maximize digital output capability, announced today the U.S. availability of the AHT Document Server for Canon (DSC). The DSC, developed by AHT in collaboration with Canon, teams the high-volume workflow management capabilities of AHT's servers with Canon's feature-rich color and black & white high-volume printers. The DSC is a web browser-based printing system that centrally controls through a single server, up to four geographically-dispersed Canon imageRUNNER 600, 550 and/or 60 models, a single Canon CLC 3100, 1000, or 2400, and a single Xerox DocuTech Printer. As a result, organizations using the DSC can more easily and evenly balance their workload among devices installed in one or more locations. It is now possible to produce materials closer to the point of demand without sacrificing overall control of the process while maximizing Canon's color, network connectivity, and automated document finishing features.
