Aids Production 3D in printing testing supplies
West Springfield, Mass. – Uvitron International, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of high-performance UV light curing systems and accessories, aided in the production of 3D printed, FDA-registered Nasopharyngeal NP Swabs used to test for COVID-19. To address the overwhelming demand, manufacturers of 3D printed products, Production 3D, began developing a plan to create the necessary testing supplies, but they needed help. They partnered with Uvitron to solve their production problem: the ability to quickly and efficiently cure the resin used in swab development.
“One phone call to Uvitron was all it took for Production 3D to recognize the fit between our two companies,” said Eugene Mikhaylichenko, Uvitron International’s Sales and Marketing Director. “They were looking for a solution that could meet their requirements for run time and product output, to create as many swabs as quickly as possible to assist with supply chain demands. Our products were a great match for their needs and within a few weeks, they were producing nasal swabs 36 times faster.”
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, creates parts or products by layering materials, most often plastic, to create three-dimensional models. The process has gained popularity in recent years among medical manufacturers due to the cost savings and efficiencies it affords. Uvitron’s UV Conveyor 40 Plus with dual SkyRay 800 LED lamps were the perfect option for Production 3D’s needs.
JR Nichols, Production 3D’s project and print manager, shared some thoughts on the partnership saying, “Uvitron is a very professional company. When we had this special need for a COVID-19 fighting product we were producing, we sent samples in and they matched us with the proper equipment. We went from being able to cure 3,600 pieces in 24 hours to 129,000 pieces in 24 hours.”
Uvitron creates innovative solutions that are used in industrial, commercial and laboratory settings across a broad spectrum of industries.
