SCREEN Americas’ Truepress Jet520HD Series Paves Way for Direct Mail Printer to Earn Rapid Growth Recognition from Leading Trade Publication

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, Ill. – When Access Direct Mail purchased the Truepress Jet520HD in late 2018, the event marked an important global milestone for SCREEN Graphics: the press was the 1500th production class inkjet press manufactured by the Kyoto-based original equipment manufacturer. But the moment proved auspicious for the Florida-based direct mail printer as well, putting Access Direct Mail on the fast track to nearly doubling its revenue by the end of 2019. With an increase in revenue from $5.76 million in 2018 to $9.12 million in 2019, Access Direct Mail not only earned a place in a leading trade journal’s list of top 350 printers in the United States and Canada, but was one of five printers selected to be featured in the journal for its success.

Dori Giglio, president and owner of Access Direct Mail, attributes the revenue increase to the Truepress Jet520HD Series which was in operation throughout 2019. Originally opposed to switching to a roll-fed operation from a cut-sheet operation, Giglio changed her mind when she saw the results of her own files printed on the Truepress Jet520HD Series compared to the results from those same files printed on SCREEN’s competitors prior to making her purchase. “SCREEN won hands down in terms of speed and quality,” said Giglio.

Access Direct Mail has since eliminated one six color sheetfed offset press and seven of its eight toner presses from its facility. The Truepress Jet520HD Series, in conjunction with the remaining toner press, delivers more output than her prior arrangement did. “A last-minute job calling for 300,000 postcards can now be turned around in a day,” said Giglio. The faster turnaround time has not only encouraged her own customers to return to her with larger orders, but has also led to other printers outsourcing their work to Access Direct Mail. Since the inkjet press from SCREEN only requires one operator, Giglio was able to reallocate her personnel in order to accommodate the other areas of the business that needed more attention due to the increased volume of job requests.

Now that the SCREEN technology has been underway for more than a year, Giglio has her eyes set on a possible night shift in the near future. She currently operates 10-hour shifts five days a week. She also has her sights set on another ranking in the same publication’s annual edition for top printers in 2021. Since the upcoming edition will include printers’ revenue from 2020, the ranking’s overall results may be vastly different from 2020’s edition.

Fortunately for Access Direct Mail, it serves a variety of industries helping to sustain its revenue stream during the pandemic. In 2020 there was an increase in demand on the transactional side of the business for debt collection. The revenue that was generated in this area made up for other areas such as invitations to seminars and other occasions typically reserved for banquet halls and restaurants.

Now that the 1500th Truepress Jet520HD Series has been in operation for more than one year, SCREEN Americas is looking forward to celebrating more of its customers’ own milestones.
