Alexander’s Print Advantage invests in HP Indigo 100K Digital Press

Press release from the issuing company

New capacity to expand fully automated print services

Alexander’s Print Advantage, a US-based provider of on-demand printing and fulfillment services, today announced it has adopted the new HP Indigo 100K Digital Press, in a move to expand capacity to meet growing demand for fully automated digital printing, especially in the app-driven, personalized, photo market.

Providing services throughout the US and internationally from its headquarters in Utah, Alexander’s rapidly growing digital printing business is experiencing annual growth of more than 25%. In addition to the new 29-inch HP Indigo 100K Digital Press, which set a new industry benchmark in digital sheetfed productivity, Alexander’s also installed a high versatility 29-inch HP Indigo 12000 last year.

“The whole year of 2020 was an uptick in photo products, across all types of applications. We needed to add capacity to keep up with the volume, and the HP Indigo 100K is offering the highest throughput in the B2 format for its footprint,” said Jeff Alexander, president and CEO.

The new press was installed and running just in time for the holiday peak season operating 24/6 alongside four additional HP Indigos.

Founded as a quick copy services company, Alexander’s moved strategically more than five years ago to create a fully automated production facility, including an API to capture jobs from clients’ apps and web storefronts. As a result, today almost all of Alexanders’ work is fed through an automated end-to-end system including submission, HP Indigo digital printing, finishing, and delivery tracking.

“The HP Indigo digital presses can batch and process large volumes of orders coming into the system every day and deliver high color quality with speed,” said Alexander. “We run an all-digital shop requiring ultra-reliable printing platforms that are as productive as necessary to meet volume requirements and SLA’s of our clients.”

According to Alexander, the COVID-19 pandemic has boosted demand for online orders of personalized photo, commercial print and publishing products from its customers offering B2C app and online services.

Chatbooks is one of Alexander’s innovative photo clients that enjoys continuous connectivity into the automated print system. The Chatbooks app provides subscription services that make it easy to automatically create photo books via camera photo rolls and online picture galleries, with printing and fulfillment through Alexander’s integrated, fully-automated workflow.

Since adopting the HP Indigo 29 inch format in 2015, Alexander’s has been able to expand its production with higher output per sheet and an application range that enables it to produce in-house any commercial printing job, including high-end wedding invitations, books and covers for on-demand publishing. Automation and consistency are key and the automation platform is what feeds their HP fleet of four presses, including the HP Indigo 100K, three HP Indigo 12000s and the HP Indigo 7900.
