Crystal Lake, Ill. – The International Association of Diecutting and Diemaking (IADD) has partnered with The Packaging School to offer Diecutting Academy, an online learning platform that will include training programs for the diecutting and diemaking industry. The first online course to be announced is Diecutting 101.
“Diecutting 101 offers very valuable information for diemakers and converters of all kinds,” says IADD President, Gino Gualtieri of Central Die Supplies. “This is the first of many courses that will be included in the Diecutting Academy. With this partnership, the IADD plans to offer the education needed to train new employees and address the skills gap that we see in the converting industry.”
The Diecutting 101 online course covers the fundamentals of diecutting, starting with an overview and then diving into the major types of diecutting: platen hard and soft anvil; rotary cylinder hard and soft anvil; rotary pressure and crush cutting. Students will learn about the setup, processes, tools and types of cutting required for each diecutting technology. It then addresses cutting, creasing, scoring, perforating-serrated cutting, embossing and debossing. It concludes with an interactive lesson on the “sins” of diecutting—key variable converting failure characteristics.
The course includes 19 lessons, 8 videos and can be completed in 2 hours online. Employees can work at their own pace and will receive a certificate upon completion. Diecutting 101 is perfect for supervisors, production coordinators, converters, toolmakers and new employees.
Enrollment for Diecutting 101 is now open for the low cost of $299 USD. IADD members will receive a $100 USD discount at registration, contact IADD staff for a special discount code.
