White Stone, VA, The Research & Engineering Council of the
Graphic Arts Industry has announced that its 43rd annual Bindery,
Finishing and Distribution Seminar, to be held April 5 and 6, 2001, at the
O‚Hare Marriott Hotel in Chicago, Illinois"will feature an opening
address by Harry V. Quadracci, the president and CEO of Quad/Graphics.
Later the same day, attendees will hear Ronald Musil, president of the
Banta Book Group. Both executives, who head two of the largest companies
in the printing business, will speak on Best Practices for Book Binding,
Finishing & Distribution in the 21st Century. Attendees at the seminar
also will witness an R&E Council first"a live satellite broadcast tour of
the Banta Catalog Group plant in Maple Grove, Minnesota, conducted by
William J. Hepler, Banta Catalog Group president.
The annual R&E Council Bindery seminar is widely seen as the preeminent
technical meeting in the postpress segment of the printing industry.
Chaired by Ralph F. Box, Jr., vice president of the R&E Council and
executive vice president of sales for Muller Martini, the meeting will
feature speakers representing printers, publishers, manufacturers,
educators, and consultants, and will focus on both mechanical and digital
productivity solutions of particular interest to companies in the
printing industry. In addition, both printers and equipment vendors will
detail the latest in binding and finishing techniques for sheetfed and
web printers, as well as trade binders and finishers.
