EFI PrintFlow Inventor Udi Arieli Highlights Scheduling Advancements in Webinar Series

Press release from the issuing company

Online education series from retiring EFI senior product director culminates 40-year career in print innovation

Fremont, Calif. – Electronics For Imaging, Inc. and its senior Productivity Software director for scheduling, Udi Arieli, are presenting a new thought leadership webinar series highlighting current and future innovations in EFI’s award-winning PrintFlow® Dynamic Scheduling software – solutions for print and packaging companies that can keep them on the leading edge of efficiency and productivity for years to come. The series of four sessions also assemble much of what Arieli – the inventor of EFI™ PrintFlow – has collected through his decades of experience building dynamic scheduling systems while developing the Theory of Global Optimization (TGO) – the overall optimization and constraints theory that can drive better, timelier and cost-effective productivity based on users’ overall manufacturing and personnel capabilities.

The sessions also mark a milestone in Arieli’s career. This year is the Israeli-American technologist’s 40th in the print industry and, after a career invested in optimizing print operations from the offset computer-to-film and computer-to-plate era to today’s digital color electrophotographic and inkjet production printing, Arieli is planning to retire at the end of 2020.

“Through my work in print and packaging software development – including PrintFlow Dynamic Intelligent Scheduling and the Theory of Global Optimization – we have succeeded in integrating a theory and product into one powerful offering,” said Arieli. “This is my life’s work, and I am pleased to celebrate this unique milestone with a series of webinars detailing what my EFI colleagues and I have achieved for our customers worldwide.

“The largest payback for all of us is the successful change we brought to our customers,” he added. “In the beginning, most people did not believe that theories and dynamic intelligent scheduling are needed and can work for the printing industry. We had to fight and educate the industry, and we were able to prove that it does work and is important for business continuity and profitability.”

The seminars, which are available live and through archived recordings, began June 23, with a well-attended session on “Myths of the Print Industry & the Theory of Global Optimization.” The webinar series continues with the following upcoming sessions:

Are you an Optimizer or a Scheduler? Find out with PrintFlow, on Tuesday, June 30;

Lean Manufacturing and/or TGO, on Tuesday, July 14;

The Future of Dynamic Scheduling, on Tuesday, July 21.

All upcoming sessions take place live at noon EDT/6:00 p.m. CEST with recordings available shortly thereafter.

Joining Arieli on the sessions are Matt Lafleur, product manager, EFI PrintFlow; Mark Wishnefsky, EFI senior customer operations consultant; and Nick Benkovich, vice president of product portfolio management, EFI Productivity Software.

EFI PrintFlow software, which can be deployed independently or as part of a comprehensive EFI Productivity Suite ERP workflow, intelligently optimizes the sequencing of jobs, synchronizing production by evaluating the thousands of constraints that affect every step of every job. Its holistic, rules-based approach to scheduling gives print and packaging companies the ability to handle more work in the most profitable way possible. The software automatically determines the optimal production path for every job and creates an automated, detailed schedule and up-to-the-minute run lists for all work centers. Users can configure the software’s rules-based logic to their plant’s unique production methods and scheduling requirements.
