Schawk Completes Consolidation of PCP and SchawkGraphics
Press release from the issuing company
DES PLAINES, IL - Schawk, Inc. (NYSE: SGK), North America's leading provider of digital imaging prepress services to the consumer products packaging and advertising markets, announced today that it has completed the consolidation of its Chicago-based division, Process Color Plate (acquired by Schawk in 1970) with Schawkgraphics, its founding division based in Des Plaines. This marks the third consolidation to be completed by the company this year; the previous two between Schawk Cincinnati and Schawk's Color One operations in Cincinnati and Schawk's operating divisions in Canada. As a result of the consolidation between Schawkgraphics and Process Color Plate, the combined companies will operate under a new trade name: Schawk Chicago.
Schawk Chicago will conduct business from two locations: an existing state-of-the-art facility on East Sherwin Avenue in Des Plaines which will function as the company's service resource center, and a brand new specially designed technology center in Franklin Park, Illinois, which will serve as the company's manufacturing plant. Construction of the Franklin Park facility is being completed and the company anticipates moving shortly.
Based on rapidly changing client requirements and advancing technology, Schawk determined that consolidating its two Chicago area digital imaging operations and relocating its digital and conventional manufacturing operations to the new facility, was preferred to renovating the building in downtown Chicago that had been occupied by Process Color Plate. This action is consistent with--and part of--Schawk's focus on creating a single, unified corporate identity, which enhances the organization's ability to sell its services globally.
