Adobe Names New CEO, Warnock Becomes Chief Technology Officer

San Jose, Calif.,--Bruce Chizen, 45, has been named chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors for Adobe Systems Incorporated, it was announced today by John Warnock, Adobe chairman and former CEO. At the same time, Warnock, 60, announced he would become Adobe's Chief Technology Officer, a newly created position. Warnock will continue to oversee Adobe Ventures and remain as co-chairman of the board along with Adobe co-founder Chuck Geschke.
Chizen has been president of Adobe since April of this year, while Warnock has been CEOsince the Company's inception in 1982. In addition to becoming CEO, Chizen retains his title as president.
"Speaking on behalf of our board of directors, Bruce has done an outstanding job over the past year running the day-to-day operations of Adobe's global business," said Warnock. "Based on every measure, Adobe today is in the best position in its history, and much of that success is due to Bruce's leadership. With this in mind, the time is right for me to turn the CEO position over to him. This is a personal decision I have considered for some time, and a natural transition that I have been discussing with the Adobe board. It gives me an opportunity to focus my time and energy on helping with the Company's product and technical direction, which is my passion."
